Sometimes it snows in April

This afternoon we took a walk. The six of us (and Dylan) went to the top of Foel Cwmcerwyn, the highest point in Pembrokeshire. It was a gorgeous day. The sky was blue. The land full of colour. A typical spring day with the winter forgotten and life once again in the ascendency.

It was only us at the top. Wonderful views in all directions. The sea in the distance. Removed from the sad news that Alice and I had learned at the start of the day. It felt right to think about those loved friends on the other side of country coming to terms with the loss of their son, their brother.

We told the kids as we sat at the base of the trig point next to the small cairn. I think we all shed a few tears. We all thought of our friends and hoped the strong wind carried our love to them. We each added another stone to the cairn, for Freddie. We then left. Leaving behind a little place in Pembrokeshire that will always be close to our hearts. A place we can see almost anywhere we travel in this wonderful county. A place that will always remind us of Freddie, his mum and dad and his sisters.
